eHarmony

OK, so I've been married for years. I met my husband the old fashioned way: in college. The details aren't important but say we had a fine courtship, he asked my father for my hand in marriage (really... I was shocked), engagement ring, engagement, big wedding with lots of flowers and then on to kids.

But we did date. We dated gloriously. Those were some of the best years of my life. I'm lucky.

I've been listening to my friends' and sisters' dating horror stories. Ugh. I can't imagine having to meet someone now especially not while working fulltime. How do you people do it?!?

Well, a lot of my friends have tried online dating. You name the service and they've tried it. Yes, one of them swears by Adult Friend Finders but he isn't really interested in meeting anyone... er, not meeting anyone for marriage, if you know what I mean.

The one service that more of my friends have met a lifepartner on and wound up getting married is eHarmony. They tell me that the eHarmony "personality profile" (interview / survey / form / whatever you call it) takes a couple of hours to fill out but is worth it. eHarmony matches them and they go on their eHarmony date. They claim that eHarmony works. Try it out and let me know. Is it just my friends? Please comment below.

Yahoo!, eHarmony, Matchmaker are all ways we avoid personal contact in favor of virtual contact.

Indeed, and interesting shift has occurred. Where we once came to trust our gut, we now trust the Internet. You hear me right: trust the Internet. Several years ago we were all afraid of the unknown space that comprised the Internet. Any user could pose as whomever they wanted. The anonymity scared us. Now we crave it. A large number or people rely on the security it provides.
