Sirius Launches 90s Alternative Rock Station - Lithium

Sirius Satellite Radio Sirius lithium

I have had Sirius Satellite Radio for over a year now and it has definitely lived up to its expectations. Yes I am a Howard Stern fan but I am also a musician and the music channels are nothing short of fantastic. For the first year I have been listening to all the hard rock goodness provided on channels like Octane and Alt Nation and have been thoroughly pleased. With the dwindling rock stations available via FM Radio, Sirius hits the nail on the head. For all of you classic rock fans Buzzsaw provides your necessary dose of nostalgia with the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Rush and more.

Just when I thought it could not get any better, Sirius launched a station that almost seems tailored to my listening pleasure. Who ever thought that age 30 I would be so nostalgic about my music but Lithium on Sirius is the best 90s Grunge and Alternative Rock station I have heard yet. What can I say. I am in love. All the best of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers and all the other usual suspects we know and love. As with all of the music stations provided by Sirius, this one is commercial free and rocks.

The breadth of catalog Sirius dishes out on Lithium is pretty unbelievable including such personal favorites as Scooby Snacks by Fun Lovin Criminals and Low by Cracker. Its not just the hits but plenty of B-sides and deep catalog. If you have no idea what I am talking about this may not be the station for you. However, all of you hardcore 90s alternative rock fans know exactly what I am getting at.

I know the cost seems like a drag but with the amount of content Sirius provides I have found it almost impossible to ever go back to FM Radio. Not to mention Howard Stern in the morning is a staple and his show is better than ever.

An subscription will run you about $12.95 a month. If you think its out of your price range, do what I do, ask for a subscription as a gift. Of course you need the right equipment and they have a couple of options including the Sirius Starmate Replay Receiver which I own as well as the portable Sirius Portable Stiletto which also stores MP3s and can record your favorite Sirius content.
